Why does my printer light keep blinking?

My Lexmark Z45 printer won't print. Why won't it print?

• - My mom bought a new ink cartridge and placed it in the printer but now a red light keeps flashing inside the printer - I don't think it could be a paper jam since we haven't even printed anything. - It keeps making a weird noise and the paper icon button and power button keep flashing green. I'm going to call customer service just now but I want to know if this problem is fixable at home first.

  So your problem has only started to happen when you replaced the ink cartridge? Sounds like you have inserted the wrong ink cartridge into your printer. Ink cartridges have numbers on such as BLACK 27 for example, you need to make sure the ink number your printer takes is the one you have put in. You will be able to find the type of ink your printer takes in its manual or online, the number of the ink you have will be stated on the cartridge. EDIT: Okay, so the red light is flashing inside the printer? is this where the paper tray is? if so, it could mean there is paper somewhere where it shouldn't be or there could be a fault with your printer which you wont be able to fix yourself. I'd ring the Lexmark customer service desk, get them to go through some troubleshooting steps with you and try and get a solution if possible.
