How do you scan with the Epson stylus nx400?

How do you scan from Epson Stylus All in one printers?

  • I had an Epson stylus CX6600 all in one printer. When I tried to scan to computer a box opened saying 'Epson scan cannot properly communicate with the scanner. Make sure scanner is on, properly set up to scan. If using SCSI Connection Restart your computer.' I checked all the connections, uninstalled and reinstalled software. But still the same problem. I contacted Epson and they gave me a list of instructions of what to do. I followed these instruction, but to no avail. I have now taken the printer back to PC World and explained to them. They exchanged it for an Epson DX7450. I have tried scanning to computer with this one but now I have a box which opens and says, 'Cannot properly communicate with the scanner. The carriage unit may be locked depending on your scanner model. Make sure the scanner is properly connected and set up to scan. Then turn the scanner off and back on again.' Is there a problem with Epson's All in one printer/copier/scanner?

  • Answer:

I would guess the problem is with your USB port, USB cable, or computer. Are you plugged directly into the computer or into a USB hub? Did you try a different USB cable and a different port on the computer? Can you try the same printer on another computer? I happen to have the same problem with an Epson CX3810 but I was able to make it work on another computer so I know it's the computer and not the scanner which is at fault.
