How to install a network printer IP address not specified.?

I am trying to add a HP4015 onto our network. When i go to: control panel/printers/add printer and browse, the new printer does not show up. I printed out the TCP/IP information from the printer to get the IP address and all it says is "not specified". What would you try next besides banging my head on the desk.

When the IP address is listed as "not specified" on the printer status sheet, that means that it does not see the network and is not communicating with the network. It has to communicate and sync with the network in order for it to acquire and set an IP address. It may take several minutes after the printer is powered On before it acquires an IP address. Once the IP address is acquired you should then be able to see it on the network. Check the network cable and make sure that it's plugged into the printer and wall ports correctly. Also check the network connections at the switch/hub/router and make sure the port on the switch/hub/router is working correctly. Check the network port status lights on the printer where the network cable is attached to make sure they're lit. You should have two lights, one that's solid and the other should be blinking intermittently. If you have no lights, you have no network connection. If you do have lights, check the printer's network settings for the correct configuration to work with your network. Reset to default if necessary and start over. Commonly DHCP is used.
