Can you print on 4x6 photo paper using a regualer printer?

I'm trying to print pics 4x6 on 4x6 photo paper, I set my regular printer to print it 4x6 and its not doing it right. It's printing half of it. its still set for 8x11 (standard size paper). Anyone know if its possible? Thanks
