My laptop (Windows Vista) does not recognize my printer (Canon PIXMA MX870)?
-
When I first got my printer, I followed the steps and downloaded the information. When I go to my printers, my printer's icon is there. I made my new printer the main printer for when I print. I decided to use it by connecting it to the USB instead of using WI-FI. The next time I plugged in my printer, my laptop cannot recognize the printer even though my printer IS downloaded on my laptop. Whenever I try to use my printer now, it says it is offline even though it is turned on and connected to my USB port.

Answer:
Have you gone into the printer settings and changed it to use the USB ports or is it still set for WI-FI. You don need to change settings when you change the ways devices connect to a computer, it's not automatically done.
