Why isn't my printer printing in color?

MY Printer i.e CANON PIXMA MP 610 is not using the color cartridge for printing, what to do ?

• Hello, I am using CANON PIXMA MP 610. Recently, I was using the printer and the ink got finished,so the printer showed an alert to replace /refill the cartridge. Coz i was very busy doing my work I ignored that alert and pressed the STOP/RESET button for few seconds so the printer started printing again but, without using that colour i.e (Black,CLI-8BK), Means, every colour was printing but anywhere where black colour should be used it was coming blank. Now, I have replaced the empty cartridge with a new one i.e CLI-8BK. Now the problem is, now also my printer is leaving blank spaces where black colour should be used. So, now what should I do so that my printer starts using BLACK colour i.e CLI-8BK again.

  How long did you let it sit. Chances are your print head has become clogged, you will need to clean the print head using your print head clean utility.
