How do I fix a Spooler subsystem app error?

Printer spooler help!?

  • my dad is having trouble setting up the printer. when we go to control panel it does not register. here is what is says when we try to boot up the spooler thingy. an error message appears saying: "Spooler SubSystem App stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working correctly, Windows will notify you if a solution is available."

  • Answer:

That sounds like a virus. Enabling the spool system probably won't fix this, I am sure. I suggest downloading AVAST which is free and let it do a BOOT SCAN. Subsystem errors are not that easily fixed so do a Virus Scan first. Try this... Clickon My computer and then, click on TOOLS. Select "Folder Options" in the drop-down menu that appears and click on the view tabs. Put a check against the option labeled "Show Hidden Files and Folders." You will need to uncheck the option labeled "Hide Extensions for Known File Types." Click on the "Start" button and then click "Search." Look in the left column and select the option labeled "All Files and Folders." Type this, hpzimm12.dll. Click on drive C (or whichever drive that Windows is installed on). Click on the "Search" button. Locate the "hpzimn12.dll" file in the right-hand pane once the search is complete. Right-click on it and select "Delete" to remove it. Restart your computer and run the installation CD-ROM that came with your printer. That should sove your problem :-)

Go to Start / Run and type in "services.msc" without quotation marks, then press Enter or click OK. In the window that opens (Services) look for "Print Spooler" on the right Right-click "Print Spooler" and select "Properties". Click on the "Recovery" tab and change all 3 drop-down boxes to "Restart The Service". Make sure the 2 text boxes underneath say "1" in them. Click Ok until you are back at the Services window, close it and you're good to go. Go back into the properties of the "Print Spooler" tab and be sure to click Start to restart the Print Spooler service and it will restart the service immediately. The Print spooler depends on the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service. Is this service disabled? Go to services.msc look for RPC. Check state: Automatic

1. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, click Turn Windows features on or off 2. Locate the Print Services and Click the + sign next to it. 3. Select LPD and LPR. Remove Internet Printing Client. 4. Restart your PC to ensure there is no error of spooler service. 5. Add your printer driver again. Important: This sometimes require two attempts, first Select LPD and LPR and save the changes. Select the "Internet Printing Client" as well. Click Apply and OK. Restart the PC to ensure that the steps are enabled. Go back and de-select Internet Printing Client. This one causes a reboot again. Alternatively, try selecting the option print directly to printer in the printer properties instead of using the spooler option.
