Help on INK-JET PRINTER?

Inkjet or Laser printer ...Please help?

  • Hi I run a small country pub and my trusty HP Inkjet of 3 years has packed in. Just flashes with a fatal error message. I have spent too much time already trying to fix it, with no luck. So, I ask for help and advice on what I should buy to replace, Inkjet or Laser. The cost of printer vs printer doesn't really matter. What does it the running costs. I print about 50 menus a week in colour (blue) with a watermark in the background, plus about 80 pages a week to print a pub quiz out (b/w apart form a colour picture round. I need something that prints relatively quickly with a fast/economical setting too. makes models, inkjet or laser info very much appreciated.

  • Answer:

Go for a HP LaserJet Pro CP1525 or equivalent. They are designed for small business use and would be perfect for your throughput. Also HP spares and repair are very good.

Inkjets use INK wheras lazer uses toner, toner costs a lot more than INK but lasts longer

Well, I will say go for Laser Printer this time. They are really fast, quality and economical than inkjet printers although the initial cost will be a little bit higher. Good Luck.

For what you want I would buy the cheapest inkjet (look at the ink prices first & the printer second). I would get a cheap Epson, Canon or Brother. Possibly under £100. Buy refill ink from somewhere like Cartridge Monkey in packs of five. A laser printer will probably cost you £300 (Kyocera). The ink will work out cheaper over time and the laser is faster. But lasers are more suitable for fine, precise work and inkjet better for tonal work like photographs.

Two years ago I bought a HP Color Laserjet 1600 which was a real eye opener, fantastic professional looking prints every time. Buying new toner cartridges are expensive if you buy HP stock but you can buy other makes that are cheaper and just as good. I bought a 4 colour pack (3 colours plus black) the other day from an online company for £102 +vat but HP charge about £400 for the same thing.
