Printing difficulties?

I'm trying to install an Epson Stylus C46 printer on my Win XP PC through a High-Speed USB 2.0. For some reason, whenever I plug it in, it will say it's found new hardware, and it will flash up the installation wizard, but it will then vanish again, and tell me a problem has occurred. The reason I got the USB 2.0 was to make the printer work. It worked when I was running Win 2000 Professional, but as soon as I got XP, it stopped working again. My scanner works fine on both OSs and USBs. Please help me! I want my printer to work again. Even if you just post a RELEVANT troubleshooting site, I will be very grateful! Thank you!

In the "printer folder" (Start menu, control panel, printers and faxes) is there a printer driver for the C46 ? IF not slip this, if so right click and DELETE it Get the latest WinXP drivers for the C46 from www.epson.com Disconnect printer fromthe USB port Downoad and run the installer ONLY connect printer to the PC when the drivers is asking for it, and looking for it (powered on too)

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers? you could also try updating the drivers by, click on start, click on My Computer, now right click on drive C, click on properties, make sure your printer is on, click on hardware, double click on your printer there, then click on Driver, click on update driver, it will check for an update. tell me what happens after it downloads the update, make sure you restart the computer after it updates. Only gueesing with this one, but try another usb port. Make sure you turn the computer off before doing it.
