Whats the best printer for home use, Epson CX4800 or the HPF4280?

    That Epson is an old model. I would go with the HP. I agree that the Epson cartridge are cheaper but you will get more print out of the HP and a nice print. The secret to HP is tht, if you use glossy paper, don;t use the 'Finest setting but rather, use the normal mode print. The print will be just as sharp and you are not wasting your ink. If you select 'Best ouput, their is only a 5% difference and not worth it because that is when you use the most ink.

I think the first thing you need to consider is ink cartridges. Now printer is very cheap, but cartridges are very expensive. In my mind, the cartridges for Epson CX4800 is cheaper: http://www.123inkcartridges.ca/printer-ink-cartridges/Stylus-CX4800.html

I dont know about the HP but that's a very old Epson model. The best printer for home use would be a new one under warranty. Right now Epson is having a blowout on the R280 for $60. It prints on DVDs. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?oid=63069504&RMID=200903_high_inventory&RRID=1013876963 You can also find an Epson C120 printer at http://ccs-digital.com. The printer is $40 and they give you $1 for each ink cartridge you buy. Buy 40 and get the printer free. These are the same cartridges I use on my Epson CX8400.

To be honest - the both stink, the F4280 has tiny over priced cartridges and the CX4800 has a crummy print head which will die in a year.
