How is vertical alignment similar to and different from horizontal alignment?

How do i do a head alignment on an epson workforce 600 printer?

• I print up a test page and it gives me 2 boxes on the left side of the page, then 3 vertical and 2 horizontal on the right side. when i am prompted to tell the printer which boxes are correct i have no idea which box on the test page corresponds to the settings on the printer. like which boxed are 1 through 7. help me please. thanks
