Can't print on Word Starter?
-
I recently purchased a new computer which came with Microsoft Word Starter pre installed. Documents I have created have printed ok but now when I press print and the page comes up with the the print icon and page layout icons etc, the print icon does nothing and below it a message says No Printer Installed. If I press the Add Printer a message comes uo "The active directory domain service is currently unavailable. It has been like this for a week now. The print function works on all other areas of the computer and I'm sure it used to work on Word Starter documents before. Any ideas please, I'm a bit of aa novice on these things. Thanks BJ

Answer:
there is a sort of work-around for this problem that resets the privileges for the Word Starter program. Close Word if it is open Right click the shortcut for the program, select properties select the Compatibility tab near the bottom is a section called Privilege level tick the box for "always run this program as administrator" click apply If the print function still does not work there are perhaps a couple of extra things to try, the first is uninstall the printer drivers and then reboot and reload. That should resolve most software related issues for the printer. The active directory issue is related to permissions, hopefully running Word with automatic Admin privileges should resolve that. Are you using an Admin account or is it a Standard User account? This may be resolved by changing the user account type to Administrator next time you run the program it is already set to use the Admin privileges and will hopefully allow you to print more than one document after another without logging out of Word and logging back in as Admin.

You can also print that single label many, many times (how many label sheets do you have?) with just a few clicks of the mouse. If you’re preparing labels for a holiday mailing, for example, or you want to print all the labels you need for the year to send the weekly report to the home office, you can do a bunch all at once. Again, start by clicking Labels in the Create group of the Mailings tab. But this time, choose Full Page Of Same Label. Click the Options button and choose the label vendor and product number for the type of labels you’re using. Click OK to save the options and then click Print.

The Microsoft Word Starter Edition might have been on a trial basis. Starter editions have limited functionality. They are designed to get you to buy the more expensive editions.
