Will I be able to hook my printer to my laptop?

How can i hook up my printer to my laptop?

  • I have a wireless hp photosmart printer that I used to just hook up to my toshiba laptop. I switched computers to an hp laptop. Every time I try to hook them up with the usb wire, something comes up and says it doesnt work. I dont know how to get this software or whatever I need to fix the issue. What do i do? I need this printer for school. HELP!

  • Answer:

it is probably a driver issue (which is the software that allows your computer to talk to the printer). HP's are the WORST with printer drivers, trust me.. but go to HP's site, find their support and driver download part . May be easier to Google "HP photosmart driver download" and click the link that says that (make sure its off HP's website). Download and run the driver. Usually you choose your operating system and it gives you a .exe file or .zip file. If it is .zip, just right click it and choose extract. then run the .exe file. UPDATE: If you Google "HP photosmart driver download", click the first link that says HP Photosmart Drivers directly from HP. then click the green button for drivers and software and plug in the model that it says somewhere on the printer.

Find the model number of your printer. Write it down and go to http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html, where you should be able to find the driver that you need for your HP laptop. Make sure you know what version of Windows it's running.
