How do I set up my Printer?

I set "default" printer and it keeps reverting back to other "networked" printer. How can I solve this?

  • I change to "Set as default printer" but after reboot, or lapse of time, it once again reverts back to "networked" printer "assigned" to my other computer. How can I get around this, other than just "Set as default printer?" since this is obviously only a temporary solution.

  • Answer:

There is probaly a Group Policy (GPO) that is reverting the printer back to the network printer. Unless you have some Domain Admin level access you will not be able to modify this setting. I would suggest you speak to your Windows Admin team and see if they will help with a solution. Attach is a brief on GPO's. Good Luck!

kinda hard to understand on what your trying to say but setting the printer to default is the first move, if you have both printers installed (software) on your computer then you can try the options of the printer itself or you can do it the hard way in which you'll be forcing the printer because i printer is just a device, google ^_^

you have two printers and two pc's? Or on printer for two PC's? If it's the latter then you can set it to default printer on one machine and networked on the other cause it is going to use the local network to access the printer any how. both pc's have to be on to access the printer from the networked PC(that's the pc that hasn't got a printer physically connected to it), although it should still say default. Mine is setup I have two pc's "new" and "old" they are called. "New" has printer physically connected to it, "Old" pc says default printer on "new" pc. "new" pc just says default printer.
