I need help hooking up my printer to my laptop.

I need help with using my printer with my laptop. I know that some may think that this is so totally out there

• I have a printer HPPhotosmart C3100 Series All in One,Printer,Scanner, and Copier and a Toshiba Laptop. I have no directions of how to print from the computer to paper. I will appreciate any sincere concern type help. Unfortunately I am almost totally illerate, but I am not stupid, so please help me until I can get to my computer course. THANKS FOR THE HELP AND UNDERSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  You will need to have installed the drivers for the printer and scanner functions. These would have been on the disk that came with the computer. If you did not get/ of do not have the disk, you can download the drivers from the web site of the manufacturer. Once the printer is installed and connected to the laptop by either a parallel cable or a USB cable, depending on the type of cable your printer uses; you will be able to go into the printer control panel by selecting it from the start menu. Right click on the icon showing your printer and if not checked, select the default printer box. Now you should be able to print from any program that has printer functions. IF you printer does not show in the printer control panel, select install a new printer from the option on the left and go through the steps that your are asked to set up the printer. You will have to have either the disk or have downloaded the driver file to your hard drive from the manufacturer web site.
