How Do I Setup My Printer On A Wireless Network?

How do I find the security string to my school's network to setup my printer?

  • I'm trying to setup my wireless printer at school but I it keeps asking for the security string and I don't know how to find it.

  • Answer:

You'll have to get it from the instructor or the schools IT department. Most likely it's a secure network and they won't give out that information. If you're trying to print to your wireless printer from your computer (laptop I'm guessing), you can setup the printer to connect wirelessly directly to your laptop or use a USB cable connection.

If you are being prompted for a security key when setting up your Kodak printer, it is because you are setting up the printer wirelessly. As of 2010, most Kodak printers can be set up wirelessly. The security string it requests is your local wireless network's security key. This is required to connect the printer to the wireless network. Finding out your security string for the wireless network differs slightly for each router, but the process is generally the same.
