Which USB cable is compatible with my Canon printer?

What USB cable does my canon printer require?

  • Its a canon PIXMA MP490, and i find it EXTREMELY stupid that it didn't come with one. What USB cable do i need?

  • Answer:

Look on the back of the printer to find the USB port. It'll either be a thin rectangle, or a small square. You'll either need a A-to-A type cable (thin rectangle on both sides) or an A-to-B (thin rectangle on one side, square on the other.) Both cables are available at any computer or electronics store. And yes, I also find it stupid that they don't include cables with the printers. It's literally costs them less than $0.50 in materials.

One with a standard USB Type A plug on one end and a standard USB Type B plug on the other end. I would actually be mildly surprised if you do not already have several around your home. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB

printer cables are a-b cables. you can find them in dollar stores. the $1 one works just as well as the $20 ones sold in specialty computer stores. don't spend extra money on an expensive one.
