Does it matter what type of ink I refill my printer cartridges with?
-
I've been refilling my ink cartridges on my HP and Epson printers for years now. It saves me a lot of money, and I've never had a problem. I usually get a couple refills in between purchasing new cartridges. I've now bought a Dell printer, and I'm wondering if it's OK to use the ink I have to try and refill those cartridges. I have always bought ink marketed for particular brands. One seller I bought them for even played up the fact that the ink was the best match for the brand, etc. Does this really matter? Isn't the ink a standard set of colors?? Any input - from those who might actually KNOW something about this - is appreciated. I'm not interested in **OPINIONS** from people who are just trying to rack up points. Thanks.

Answer:
Yes, it is fine to use that ink to refill your Dell ink cartridges. Typically bulk ink is universal in that it can be used with any and all brands of printers.

Okay, then I'll use knowledge :) Different ink has different viscosity. It might be okay to use the same ink, but it is not advisable, unless you know for sure that it's compatible. Use the ink made for your printer, or you are risking to clog up the nozzles.

Some generic cartridges will work and some will not. Refilling Dell Series ink cartridges may work but you'll always get the low ink message. There is no way to remove the low ink message. People have a spare ready and replace them when the quality gets worse. For a fact I know that genuine brand new ink cartridges are pressurized to a degree, kinda like aerosol cans. When they get refilled, unless you've got an ink cartridge manufacturing factory in your basement, they are NOT pressurized, and therefor actually hold less ink. As for being the 'best match for the brand' well... in essence, most people probably don't notice the difference between brands of ink. But the genuine inks will print out the most accurately.
