What is the best 4x6 photo printer?

My HP printer won't let me print out a 4x6 photo?

  • I have an HP printer (that says on the actual printer that it's a 3054, but comes up on my computer as a 3050). I have the photo paper in (4x6) and the little plastic tab slid over to hold the paper straight. I go to print the picture, and I change the settings so it knows it's 4x6 photo paper, and it said to fill the page, etc, I change all of the settings to the way it should be to work, but as soon as I press print it says, "The specified custom paper size is not supported in the selected tray." EVEN THOUGH IT COMPLETELY DOES. Anyway, I just want to print out a 4x6 photo. Can someone explain how to fix my printer?

Gotta love computer and technolgy huh. When you choose the paper do you hit apply? dumb question but worth checking. You don't mention the Operating system you are using? Lets assume Windows (windows 7 in my case). Goto Start then Control panel - then Devices and Printers - then double click on your HP Printer - then underneath that will be Display Printer Properties (if it doesn't appear there - might want to Right Click on the printer and look for Properties). Under the General Tab - hit PREFERENCES Look to change MEDIA TYPE to 4x6 Look also to change PAGE SET UP tab - could be Page Size Setting to 4x6. These are at least settings for my Canon. Maybe that will help. Also when you go to Print always choose Print Preview - those settings should be there as well before you print and waste ink check those settings too. Also depending on the printer mine has a back tray and and bottom tray ( I set up the back try to be 4x6 and the bottom tray to be regular paper). Worse comes to worse deinstall and reinstall your printer on the computer again. Go to Hp and download the most current drivers for that Printer - I see on other forums this really helped make the issue go away. I completely hear you on frustration - it shouldn't be hard but it always is harder than anticipated to do a simple task Another thing to think of is settings on the printer itself...if it has visiual LCD Screen there may be settings on that printer itself causing issue. HP Has a print diagnostic utility as well you might want to look at loading: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02072599&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5109847&tmp_track_link=ot_search

Here is where you can scroll to the gloss paper you use. Place the photo paper to the far right, with the shiny side down.
