Sharing Printer Problem! "Please Help!"?
-
so i got this printer "Canon pixma mp250" yesterday. since then i've been trying to connect it wirelessly to my laptop through the ADSL router.. i connected it to the router and checked that it's connected to it "By typing my IP adress in the adress bar and going to the router's settings" and i can see that it is connected to the router correctly and it is enabled and shared. but when try to add it to my laptop "by the Add Printer Wizard "printers and faxes-add printer" i can't find it.. here is what i did: i started the wizard chose next chose "A Network Printer or A Printer Attatched To Another Computer" i then chose "Browse For A Printer" then it starts searching and when it is done i sometimes see the name of the router "VODAFONEBOX" as a computer and when i click on it to select the printer i just don't find the printer... and some times the name of the router is not even there.. is that because i have a workgroup "my work group is the default MShome" is something missing ..? plz help me ... thank you .. Note: the printer driver is installed on my laptop and the problem still occurs but when i connect it directly to my laptop via USB i can print normally .. but i still want the wireless way .. the printer is connected to the router through USB port and on the router's settings the printer is read by the router and connected and sharing is enabled .. my laptop is connected to the internet through that ADSL router "VODAFONEBOX"

Here are some links that explain sharing and setups: Microsoft site that explains how to setup and share your printer over a home network using XP and another web site that explains it a little differently: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/honeycutt_july2.mspx http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1596 Home Networking: http://www.pcworld.com/article/102461/how_to_set_up_your_home_network.html http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/wirelesssetup.mspx http://compnetworking.about.com/od/homenetworking/Home_Networking_Setting_Up_a_Home_Network.htm http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1427 Best of luck.
