Printer problems with HP printer.

Having problems with new HP Wireless Printer?

  • Recently I purchased a HP Touchscreen 20" All-in-one and a HP Photosmart Wireless printer alongside it. When purchasing them both, I paid so that the techniacans could safely set up my computer and my printer together. I was told that everything should work fine and that the printer is connected to the printer. However, when I attempt to print off work for College it says that my printer is offline and therefore cannot be printed although it is connected to my wireless network and switched on. If anyone knows how to fix this problem or has came accross it, any suggests or tips would be grateful. :-)

  • Answer:

Definitely go to the shop that sold it to you & make them fix it while you wait. In the UK the law says that anything you buy must be 'fit for purpose'. This was sold for a particular purpose which it doesn't meet. I'm sure that the US has a similar law, & your local BBB would advise you as to the precise terms of the law as it applies to you. I'm not advocating that you sue, but you should hold them to doing what you've paid for. Otherwise, just do as has been suggested, or run the printer setup wizard.

I agree - have the store fix the problem while you wait. But if that is impossible ( i.e. you are at school and store is back home) I need more info - can you print if printer hardwired to computer (probably via USB)? By wireless do you mean via bluetooth? if so has the printer and the computer been paired? If you mean WiFi, it is much more complicated.

In the future I wouldn't pay those tech from geek squad to setup anything. They overcharge for something any highschool/college kid could do. Now for for fixing the printer. Go into control panel, hardware and sound, select the printer option. From there you should see your printer listed, to turn it on all you should have to do is right click it and choose the option.

Does your printer show up as a network device, is the wireless turned on on the printer, i have 1 and it occasionally goes offline i just push the little button with the wireless icon on it. Other that that get the idiots back to sort it out
