Colour cartridge not working with DELL AIO 942 printer?

  • I recently bought a colour cartridge from PC world but cannot get this working, the printer doesn't recognise it. Although I bought this seemingly brand new, the box says he ink cartiridge has been refilled. I read somewhere that Dell printers will not work when a cartridge is re-filled. Is this the reason it's not working?

    Unless it is a refilled dell cartridge you printer will not recognize it. Many places will refill a lexmark cartridge and change the top so that it will fit in a Dell printer, however on newer model dell cartridges they are keyed as a dell cartridge. So you issue is that it is not a dell cartridge, it is most likely a refilled lexmark cartridge that has the wrong electronic signature. It could also be the case that the cartridge was poorly packaged and has dried up. You will no this is the case if the cartridge recognizes in the printer however is printing a blank page.

It is always worth getting the cartridge refilled, your Dell was made by Lexmark the first thing I would do is with your fingers squeeze the sides of the cartridge to held get it to bleed then take a paper towel fold it in half and dab the cartridge on it to see if or how well it is bleeding, if that does not work, boil some water, get a container ( one the cartridge fits in ) and pour the boiled water into the container about a half inch, dip the cartridge in and out of the water a few times and squeeze the cartridge on the sides again, and dab it on the paper towel again and not in the same spot so you can see it get better, once you get three solid colors that should work, BUT you do not want any of the water on the small electronic board so get 99% isopropyl alcohol and a Q tip, dip the Q tip into the alcohol, turn the Q tip sideways and rub it gently all over the contact board, that will evaporate any water and clean the board, you can do the same on the contact board of the printer too. Do not believe what you have read I have done this for 15 years and can't count how many I have refilled it always worked for me. you will be able to refill this cartridge 4- 6 times before the head starts to go thats when you see lines through the print. good luck

I dont know if it applies to the make of the printer but many people get problems with refilled cartridges.My advice is to take it back to where you bought it and change it for an original.It doesnt just happen to dell printers it happens to other brands too.
