Why is there a blinking light on my printer?

"Out of Color Ink" light blinking on HP All-in-One Inkjet printer?

  • I had just refilled the black and color ink cartridges and printed some things out and the printer worked fine, then went to print again and got a blinking light saying the printer was out of color ink (definitely isn't!). I took it to Geek Squad the other day but they barely looked at it and just said it was "broken" and didn't know/didn't care to ask the guy who inspected it the reason. Turns on fine and everything, just automatically starts blinking that light saying the colored ink is out. I already used a qtip to try and clean the connections for the cartridges .... nothing :(

  • Answer:

I have found the HP All-in-One printers to sometimes be very sensitive to re-manufactured or refilled cartridges. I would try using a new HP cartridge or you can try cleaning the contacts with a little bit of alcohol and a soft towel. Q-tips often leave residue that can cause the connection to fail. Sometimes the panel in the carriage assembly also needs a cleaning like this. As always make sure it is unplugged first :-)
