Question about Epson printer and ink levels?

  • I have an Epson Stylus NX415 printer. It won't print. The message on the screen says one of the colors of ink is out, but I have a full black ink cartridge. I only need the black ink for what I am trying to print. Do all the ink cartridges have to be filled in order to print at all.

no. but you need to set the printer to print in black only, here is how you do it. start button click on settings click on printers and faxes will show icon for your printer right click on that and click on properties from there you can figure it out. hope it helps

yes. If there is any kind of error message at all from the printer, it will not print.

There is a very good reason why you need all the colors. Replace the missing one immediately before you permanently damage the printer. Read http://www.ccs-digital.com/inkjetcare.asp for details. Some Epson printers allow you to set it to black only or color only for when you run out of ink but if you do this you could wind up damaging the printer. I know some people this happened to with brand new printers. The best thing is to never let a cartridge run out. Your printer uses the same cartridges as my workforce 500.
