How do I hookup my printer from desktop to laptop?

How do I get my laptop to print to the printer that's hooked up to my desktop computer?

  • I tried to find the "Share" printer option on my desktop printer but it seems that there is no such section letting me share the printer. Maybe this is because on the desktop computer I have Windows ME, or maybe because that printer doesn't have the Share choice on it? It's an Epson 880, which is actually no longer being made anymore. What would be an alternative method to get that printer to work with my laptop computer? Should I forget about networking it wireless and just run a cable from the printer to the laptop? What type of cable? I have another HP Photosmart printer hooked up to my laptop, but it runs out of ink fast and I want to be able to use the other printer when that printer runs out of ink if I can't afford to go buy ink right away. The laptop is on Windows XP, if that info helps any.
