What is the maximum "safe" weight of inkjet paper?

Using laser printer paper in an inkjet paper?

  • I have "sticky back" self adhesive label-type paper that is clear matte - for laser printers. Can I use this paper in my inkjet printer? Or should I buy the inkjet version of the paper, is it cheaper?

  • Answer:

You can use any paper in inkjets.

Hello Daniel, There are differences in paper types. Inkjet paper is a little more porous so the liquid ink is absorbed better, while the laser printer paper is usually a tighter bond so the toner can be fused to it better. In most cases the paper can be intermixed between the two types of printers. It sounds like the print stock you have is for labels and when you say clear matte it seems the labels are clear. If this is the case then the labels are actually a plastic label and the inkjet print may not be able to print cleanly on them because the plastic may not absorb the ink correctly. You can try a page to see, set your printer to the setting called ink conservation or low ink output and give it a try. When the page comes out wait a minute or two and then see if the ink smears if you touch it.
