Why isn't my printer printing in color?

Is there a printer that can print when the color cartilages are empty but the black isnt?

  • My printer won't print because the color cartilages are empty, although the black is full. I dont have any more color ink left. Is there any printer that i can buy that CAN print when the color cartilages are empty? (What i mean is the color cartilages are IN the printer, but they're just empty) If anyone knows anything, please tell me the exact name of the printer. (and the price) thanx

    A cheap little printer that will work without the colour cartridge is the Lexmark 640. Just put a #16 black cartridge in and it will ask if there's any colour cartridge installed, just click 'not installed' and it prints fine without a colour cartridge. Also some of the HP Deskjets don't need a colour cartridge but the Lexmark is the cheaper option.

You should be able to change the printer settings to print in greyscale. I think that will work.

It seems to me that my epson R220 and my HP something or another give the option to print in b&w when a color cartridge runs out. It is probably cheaper to keep a spare cartridge for each color around, rather than buying a new printer - unless of course you have one of those wonderful combined b&w/color cartridge printers.

yes you can, epson have always made printers that have more then one ink cartridges, you usually find that find printers put all the colours in one cartridge, which is not only ridiculous and expensive it doesn't really help, the information is below name of printer - Epson stylus dx8450, its a printer copier and scanner price - 59.99 special offer go to pc world if you have one this can still print in colour when one runs out
