How do I switch my printer to print in black and white?

I have a HP Deskjet inkjet printer d1660.The on & Off switch is flashing and it will not print?

Also their is no documents on the printer to stop it printing thank you

I also have an HP Deskjet and when the light flashes it is because the printer hasn't been used for a while, kind of like the printer is in sleep mode. Try just pushing the power button once and see if it stops flashing, that's what i do.

Open up the printer and look for any object that might be disrupting the printer. Also make sure your ink cartridges are firmly inpalce and did not get knocked loose. Those are the most common problems. If that does not work try uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer drivers. Other than that I would have to be there to fix it.

Unplug the power cable to clear the memory and see if the flashing returns.
