Canon printer problem.

A problem with my Canon printer?

My Canon MP220 printer wont scan. On my computer screen it is saying that printer maintenance is in operation but it doesn't seem to be doing anything at all. I have switched the printer off and back on again to reset it but that hasn't done anything. Any ideas anyone?

Canon, along with other printer manufacturers, make their money out of the INK they sell you. Thus their printers will not do ANYTHING unless you have a complete set of ink cartridges with some ink in each one (yes, even if you only want to print in black & white it will insist you have each of the colour inks available before it lets you). Pop the lid and see if any of the cartridges is 'blinking' = if so, that's the one it thinks is missing or empty. Until you cure that problem it's never going to scan (or do anything else).
