Why can't I print off my laptop wirelessly?

I dont have a internet connection. why cant i print from my laptop to my wireless printer?

    have you set the printer an assigned IP address? Check the manual for the printer it will tell you how to set up a fixed IP address for the printer with your router or hub/switch and once set up you can then connect your laptop to the printer. Many of the cheaper wireless printers will not connect directly with a computer, they require some sort of routing device to connect through first, the better printers contain this function built in.

If you can't do it wired then buy a router, this doesn't have to be connected to the internet via your wall phone socket thingy. That will work as a local network. Connect that wired to your printer and wirelessly to your laptop. On the laptop go to add printers and try scanning for wireless printers (check YouTube for connecting to wireless printers on what ever operating system you have).

This is because the laptop does not talk directly to the printer. A router assigns an "identity" to each piece of equipment (this is called an IP address). The laptop sends info to the router which then passes it on to the printer. Yes it would be simpler if the laptop could talk directly to the printer, but they are not designed this way. You can have a router installed without an outside connection (i.e. no internet), and this will work. If you ask around you may find someone has an old wireless router (e.g. anyone who has swapped internet providers and has been supplied a new one)
