Why won't my printer turn on?

Deskjet printer wont turn on?

i recently got a printer from a friend..it ddnt have the usb cord so i got one today from bestbuy it fits and everything i made sure everything was in its right place and it is.... but it wont turn on...the cord going nto the wall that plug..the green light is on and everything...and on my computer it says printer is installed and ready to use i print something nothing happens i have unplugged everything waited about a half hour pluged everything back and and it stll wont turn on...whats the problem???

So are there any lights on on the printer? Is anything blinking? You said the green light is on for the power, so it appears to be getting power from the wall... but have you made sure that power plug is securely connected to the printer? Have you tried a different outlet?
