How to manually install a virtual usb printer port in xp?

How do I remove a printer under Windows XP when I do not have it?

  • I installed most software on my second XP from my first XP, including an HP 1010 Laserjet that connects to an USB port. This worked fine, until I "cleaned up" the second system. The printer still works fine, but every time that switch the system on, it sees an HP 1010 printer that it needs to install and prompts me for a SDHP1010.DL_ file — it (thinks?) it sees another printer. When I cancel the install, everything goes OK with the printer on USB, but I would like to get rid of the message.

- Remove all HP software using Add/Remove Programs (including your present printer) after you have disconnected the USB cord from the computer. - Download Ccleaner (free) and run the cleaner for Temp. Internet files and the Registry cleaner. Do not back up and clean up all registry errors. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download - Install your present HP software connecting the USB cord when prompted to in the setup.
