Whats wrong with my printer?

  • I have a H P photosmart 420 series poprtable photo printer, its been working fine until today. The prints are coming out all green! The ink is full, the paper is new ,so whats wrong?

    Sound like the cartridge might of dried up a little. or because you have a tri colour cartridge in this printer, some times one of the colours will empty, leaving you with green or purple prints. but because the other two colours are full the cartridge will say it full or 3/4 full. if it's a new cartridge you just put in the machine then it's dried up, or faulty. if you haven't had it long take it back to where you got it. one way to check to see if it's dried up . take the cartridge out of the machine and get a piece of kitchen towel. gentle dab the print head on the kitchen towel and you should see 3 colour strips. if you see 3 colour strips and the cartridge is not working then it's faulty. if it's dry (2 or 1 colours), try putting the print head in to some warm water for a couple of seconds. DRY and see if it works.

you have a clogged print head. Run a few print head cleanings. Hopefully that will solve the problem (your magenta ink is not flowing)

You should be able to clean the heads via the printer tools found in the printer properties Having green only, sounds like your colour cartridge is not letting out anything but the green colour. If all was working fine yesterday and you have not changed anything, best option is to run a cleaning on the heads via the printer utility software. Quite often, it is just a clogged head which will get better after the cleaning process. If you are not using Original Ink Cartridges beware the very cheap ones, they are more trouble than they're worth. Best of luck and remember to have plenty of paper to go through all the cleaning options

well the ink may be full but your you got a cloge in it or you need to add color to the other sections or you can crack the ink cartadige
