HP Ink Cartridge Problem?

Hp printer ink cartridge problem?

  • I own a HP Photomsmart c6380 Printer. I had ink that sat in the printer over the summer and when I tired to use my printer again after the summer it said I had no ink. Does ink dry up in the cartridge? I have been told that ink cartridges have a code on them and after a certain date they won't print anymore. Is there a way to trick the printer into thinking I have a newer ink cartridge then I really do.

  • Answer:

This things do happen especially if the printer and ink cartridges has not been used for quite sometime.

Ink does dry up after time, normally within 6 months, as each tank has breather-holes so as not to create a vacuum when ink is used. Most cartridges have a 'smart chip' which measures the level of moisture in the tank, this information is communicated by the printer to your PC. Also the page count is sent to the print program, so you could have a 1/3 tank of ink left, but the print program tells you that it is empty. There are tricks to fool HP printers in to 'thinking' that the cartridges are full so you can use refill kits and solutions are available on-line with a little bit of work.

Turn on the hot water until warm Put about 1/2 inches of water in a cup Put the print head portion (where the ink comes out) in for about a minute Dry off the cartridge using a soft tissue. Re-insert the cartridge into the printer. Run the normal cleaning software routine a few times

Office equipment tech here... the ink with thicken and become unuseable. Also the little circut board on the cartridge itself may need cleaning, clean it with a lint free cloth and rubbing alcholol and also the little circut board that matches it inside the cradle where the cartridge sits, clean it also. If that doesn't work time to buy a new one.
