How can i install my canon printer with out installation disc?

Do I need a installation disc to install a printer?

  • Hey I've got a Canon MP610 printer and I was wondering if you needed the installation disc to install the printer or not? I can't seem to find the cd so if I need the cd, where can I get it from or is there a program I can download?

    The specific file you're after is called a driver, and what it does is tell your computer how to interact with the printer. Luckily enough for you, canon makes all of their drivers available for download, free of charge. The link I've provided will take you to the specific driver you need. There are some printers that allows you to print even without the software installed and just the driver. But in order for you to use all the features of your printer, you are required to install the software (CD that comes with your printer).
