What is the difference between Black ink and Photo Black ink?

HP Photosmart C3180 ink cartridge difference????

• With the HP Photosmart C3180 you can use either use #93 Tri-color ink or #99 Photo ink. I have tried both ink cartridges and didn't see any difference when I printed out some pictures... When using the different inks, all I did was switch out the cartridges. Am I suppose to do something else that would help get better photos with the #99 photo ink cartridge. I would have thought that the "photo" cartridge would give me better results with my printed pictures but I saw no real difference. If anything, the tri-color ink produced better pictures. In addition, I am using HP photo paper. Anyone have any advice??

  all the 99 does is add two extra shades, and most normal folks would never notice any difference. the only reason to use a photo cartridge really is if you are doing professional quality photos where those little subtle shadings make a difference (albeit a little tiny one). i would stick with the regular colour for most everyday photo projects.
