Why isn't our printer working?

  • I Have a HP laserjet 1020 and it was working like before. I had just printed something. NOW suddenly wen ever I Try to print something it says: Before you can print you need to select a printer. if you need td to install a printer, either double click the Add Printer icon or click find printer...button located on the General tab of this dialogue. HOwever our pinter is connected to the computer, I have checked a million times. ALs when I click add printer it says : Windows can’t open Add printer. The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine. I don't know what a spooler is. I've turned the computer off an on 3 times and I have unplugged and plugged the printer in many times. ALSo it looks like the actual printer is working because when you turn it off an on you hear the sound that it makes and the green light is one. What is wrong with my printer!!!

    1. Go to run 2. Inside the run box, type "services.msc". 3. The Services window will pop-uo. Scroll down to Print Spooler. 4. Double left click on Print Spooler. 5. Left Click in Start. 6. Change startup type to Automatic. Click Apply and OK. Lets hope that you will this on a one time basis only. Now you can print again.

Hope this helps. Did you try to print a self-test page to see if the printer actually works. If you need to with that the directions come with the printer's user guide. If this doesn't work then you should troubleshoot the printer just in case that the dots are missing from the printer. If that happens the paper tens to smudge when you do a print job.
