Can I use this method for inkjet cartridge cleaning?

  • Can I inject some hot water into a sponge filled inkjet cartridge to clean it from inside? My problem is this - http://www.flickr.com/photos/54250177@N05/5206550617/ As you can see that the printing is streaked when I'm printing in blue color. Other compartments of this cartridge (red and yellow) work fine. I have tried all ordinary measures like printer cleaning function, immersing the cartridge into boiling water etc. Can I put hot water into the cartridge to clean clogged ink from inside or will I ruin it? The printer is canon PIXMA 258.

    In your second picture you still have the streaking it just seems better as there is a deeper coverage. That is classic either blocked print head or one colour empty streaking. You need a new ink!

No it is not a very good idea. It is not the sponge that is causing the problem, it's the ink cartridge heads. I suggest that you replace the ink cartridge. Also, if you did that, and refilled the cartridge, the color would never be the same anymore

The hot water will cause damage. Use the cleaning ulitility included in your canon printer driver.

any thing with water and electronics is not a good idea. this can ruin your print head and or the printer. take the head out and the lines that run from front to back run a alcohol tip it the sae Direction try only doing 1 line at a time. chang q tip after each color.

NO! The sponge will fill with water and you will be unable to get rid of it all so it will ruin it anyway. If all that you have already tried is failing to clear the dried ink, it is time to buy a new cartridge, its cheaper than a new printer
