How do I connect my laptop to my wi-fi printer?

Help! I have a wireless printer with wifi capabilities but I don't know how to connect it to my wireless lapto?

  • connect it to my wireless laptop because I don't have a router, I use a cricket modem for my internet service. I also don't have a password of wep passphrase because I'm not connected to a network. Am I able to connect the printer to my laptop via wifi?

    While it is possible to set up an ad hoc wireless network - basically by setting up a router in software - it is a pain in the neck and costs $25 or more. It is far easier to use a router. You can buy a basic router for less than $20.

what kind of printer is it. Did you down load the drivers that came with the printer. You need to do that or the laptop won't communicate with printer. Then check to see if the printer is online with your laptop. if it ask for a Webkey make one up using 8 digits or letters best to mix them .Password make the same way.

I am not really sure, but I think you will need wif and to install the printer in your laptop in order to get it to work. After all it is a wifi printer. right?
