Problem with hp deskjet 5400 printer black ink cartridge?

  • okay i recently bought a new black cartridge because my first one was running out of ink, i took out the old and put in the neww, same brand same make, but my printer will not read it, it just gives me yellow light and refuses to print, why is this? is there some other way im supposed to instell the cartridge?

Maybe there's something wrong with the new cartridge. You can try around with your old cartridge to confirm. If your printer is functioning properly with the old cartridge then the new one must be defective.

Perhaps however you did not remove the tapes from the cartridge head and chip? If you did then tt looks like the cartridge is not recognized from your printer so you need to return it for another one. This can happen quite frequently if you did not buy HP originals for example. Or if you handled the cartridge touching the chip this can also cause problem. The retailer should return remanufactured cartridges anyway since problems are not uncommon with those. http://www.inkfilling.com accepts returns

Take the cartridge back out and check and see if you took off the protective plastic off of it. There is no installing to it just pop it in.

you may want to try a printer reset. To do this, turn your printer off, unplug it from the electrical outlet for about 1 minute, and then plug it back in and power it back up.

Try reinstalling the cartridge. If it is still not recognised, the cartridge is defective
