What Epsom printer should I get?

Printer not printing Yellow?

  • I have an Epsom 680 colour printer, and after several times of cleaning using the utility I can't seem to get it to print anything in the yellow colour. Both ink tanks are plenty full by the way. Please help.

  • Answer:

When my printer failed to print yellow I phoned the manufacturer support free number. The technician (who happened to be in Bombay by the way) told me step by step what to do : (1) turn off printer (2) take out all the cartridges (he called them cassettes) (3) Carefull remove print head (see your own instruction book (4) Take a twin tip and clean the yellow print head ( I cleaned them all) with alcohol (5) replace cartridge head I did that and the printer printed a beautiful yellow flower for me which I had chosen as proof that yellow had been cleaned. That was a year ago. Now I print color every day, fill my own cartridges for about $2 and print hundreds of pages (mostly for hand-outs at the senior center where I teach computers (5000 members) how to make personal websites. Hope this works. Good luck. Merry Christmas

If your "Estimated Ink Levels" are showing the correct amount of ink, it is possible the Yellow print-head is clogged. [Yellow is one of the three primary printing colors: Yellow, Magneta, & Cyan]. Remove the Tri-Color cartridge; you can try several things here: Run hot tap-water over the printhead for 5-7 seconds - do not use boiling water. Use a paper towel to gently wipe printhead, then hold printhead down on paper towel for several seconds - paper towel will act like a sponge - all three primary colors should ozze - visabily - onto paper towel. If yellow is still not showing, soak printhead [only - not the entire cartridge] in a warm mixture of 50% Ammonia / 50% Water for 20-30 minutes, then again try the paper towel test. If all the above fails, try using 50% Alcohol / 50% Water - warm, but not boiling - Alcohol may damage or destroy your printhead, so do this only if all else fails. Good Luck, Ken C.

both as in ? i have epson but have 6 ccartrdiges and when one is empty, u replace that one only. maybe the yellow bit of the ink cartridge is empty and used up. CMYK, thats the code ink works in. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key (Also known as black). you might have to replace teh whole thing! thast why when u buy your next printer, make sure you get one that has separate inks.

The 680 printer uses a 3 colour multi cartridge and a black. It is very possible that you have used all the yellow from the cartridge without the printer telling you the ink is low. Head cleaning many times only uses more ink from the cartridges and is not a good idea.

SKJA

turn on the printer, press Ctrl+P> preferences> tab. maintenence
