How do I fix "print spooler?

"print spooler" is preventing computer from entering standby- how do i fix this?

  • i have had problems with my printer lately and this message keeps appearing "the service 'print spooler' is preventing the machine from entering standby. try stopping this service and try again"..... how do i get this message to disappear and allow my laptop to enter standby mode again?

    Computers get 'confused', you may need to reinstall Windows. This is possibly the worst and most unprofessional advice I have ever heard. Go into the printers applet: Start | Printers and Faxes and ensure that in the setting for each of your printers (particularly if you have network printers) and ensure that "spool print documents" is changed to "Print directly to the Printer". There may also be a 'sleep' or 'auto shutoff' mode; turn it off.
