Use scanner on printer?

I installed a Philips MF-Jet 405 printer/fax/scanner, and it's causing a stop error every time I use it.?

  • I have a Dell laptop with Windows XP. I got this printer as a gift, it came with the installation CD. Despite some error messages during the installation, it finally worked. The problem is, every time I plug it to my computer and use it to print (the problem doesn't occur when I use it to scan), it works, but when I turn off my computer afterwards, I get a stop error (blue screen) and have to restart it. I guess it's a problem with the printer driver. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the printer software, but it keeps happening. I got this printer for free, so I can live with the error message, but I'm worried that it will damage my computer. Does anyone know about this type of error? Is it dangerous for my computer?

  • Answer:

    throw it out.

Go to the Phillips website and look for the drivers for the printer, the CD drivers may be outdated or the CD itself is defective, hence the reason you get errors on installation.
