How do I password protect my new printer?
-
I just bought a Brother HL-2070N. My sister always prints things she doesn't need so I want to password protect it. They have one at my school for the color laser. The admin computer will be a Mac with Mac OS X, 10.4.8 (most updated)

Answer:
the best way to "protect the printer" on Mac 10.4.8 is to create an account (System Preferences) in her name w/o automatic login. Ensure that in the account set-up, your sister cannot enable printers. Remember to set your own password so you can log in yourself. When the computer starts, a login screen will appear; and depending how you set it, pick an account to use and it's password. It should work. Power Mac G5, 2 Gig DDR Ram, Mac OS 10.4.9
