Network printer only prints when main computer is on?
-
Whenever I want to print something from a laptop or another computer on my network, my home computer (the one that has the printer, router, and modem connected to it) has to be on and logged in. Is there anyway to make it so I can print documents even when the computer is off? I have a wifi compatible Canon MP495 thats connected via usb to my home computer. Is it maybe because it's connected to this computer?

Answer:
It is a USB printer, not a network printer. That means whatever computer it is plugged into must drive the USB port for printing, thus the computer MUST be on to allow printing. You do not have a network printer, but a PC printer that is shared over the network by a single PC...
