Gripes about remanufactured toner cartridges?
-
Are remanufactured toner cartridges a good option? People complain about quality and consistency, and damage to printers.

Answer:
It is recommended to never use re-man cartridges in a new printer or one that is still under warranty. As an HP, Epson, Xerox, and Lexmark certified technician we are instructed that if there are re-man toners in the machine that the warranty is null and void. I usually still repair them if it is something not related directly to the cartridge though. Out of warranty you can use them at your own risk. I personally use them both at home and in the office. Quality is the biggest issue. You need to make sure that the cartridges have been remanufactured properly and with quality parts. Poor re-mans leak toner, print horrible and have shorter life spans. Premium quality is a must. Color laser printers it is not recommended at all to use re-mans. Basically I recommend you at least try them, monitor their performance, check for leaking, poor quality etc. at the first sign of something off take it back and ask for a refund or a replacement. Even OEM carts can have defects. I hope this helps even though it a bit winded! lol! Good Luck!

I would not take a chance of damaging my printer with anything other than new cartridges. I have known people who have ended up damaging their printers beyond repair when trying to save a few dollars on toner or ink cartridges. One of my friends has her own business, and had a very high end printer/scanner/copier/fax that she saved up for nearly two years to purchase; it was somewhere around two thousand dollars, and she ruined it with one remanufatured cartridge which leaked and shorted out the machine. The company would not repair the machine for her as she had broken the warrenty by wanting to save a few dollars. I have never heard of anyone having a great deal of luck with these types of "deals." Have a good night.
