Epson Stylus stopped printing?

Why is my Epson Stylus not printing any blue?

  • Hello. I have a Epson Stylus DX4050 that has not been in use for 1 year. The blue ink cartridge was removed from it about 6 months ago for use in another printer. Now when I wanted to use the printer again, I put a new blue ink cartridge in it. When I then tried to print some pages, there was no blue at all! What was supposed to be green came out yellow and so on. The cartridge seems fine, I took it out and checked if there was ink coming out of it and there was. So the problem seems to be the printer. I've tried to use the "head cleaning" twice but still there is no blue on the Nozzle Check. I'm wondering if it's a coincidence that the blue cartridge is the one that is not working or if it has something to do with that slot having been empty for some months (no use of the printer during that time). Has anyone had similar experience with an Epson printer? Any advice?

  • Answer:

The ink drys on the printer nozzle and blocks the ink flow ,remove the ink cartridge, get a syringe with some print head cleaner and pump it into the outlet where the ink cartridge sits let it soak about 1 hour or so , refit cartridge and try again , i just had the black ink block on my R340 took me a day to clear it ! PS you should never let a printer stand without a cartridge in it , print a page once a week to keep the nozzles clear http://www.inkmagic.com/epson_clogged_printhead.htm I see the thumbs down idiots are out in force again , SAD ******s

Use a legit cartridge? Otherwise toss the Epson and buy either a Kodak or an HP.

Sir Loin

sounds like the printer nozzle is blocked.try googling how to unblock it

If its the correct cartridge why don't you try re-installing your printer and see if that helps.

Printer cartriges are not interchangeable. Buy cartridges that the manufacturer recommends for your printer.

I read the article suggested here, but it's written by the owner who wants to sell you stuff. Besides, there are a few errors in the article. I to have been using Epson's for over 10 years and will never use any other printer. Here's the solution. Go to the website below and get a Cleaning Kit or use Windex [yes, the window cleaner], a syringe with a 6" piece of fishtank tubing. Inject the Windex into each nozzle after removing the cartridges. Be careful not to damage the nozzle tip by pressing down to hard. Windex dissolves the ink. Buying the kit may be easier. Here's the icing on the cake, Get a CISS for your printer. It will save you TONS of MONEY, never change a cartridge again and it will pay for itself in a month. http://www.inkproducts.com/ink-store/ Also get a Waste Ink Container, changing the waste pad is a pain.
