Why won't my Webcam and Printer work on my new computer?

  • OK, so I bought a new computer (HP Pavillion a6700c PC w/ Windows Vista Home Premium. I love it! :D), but I want to use my old printer and Webcam. So, I tried to install both of them, but it didn't work. Does this mean I have to buy a new webcam and printer because they won't work with my new one? If I could install them, can you please tell me how to go through the whole installation process, because I don't understand them. It semi-worked for the printer because I installed the driver,but it doesn't work to launch. But not for the webcam. It doesn't work at all.

Its because your new computer does not no what it is so type in your printers model number and get a software download do the same for your webcam

search the web for the printer and web camera for vista drivers or you will have a problem. I have a scanner by Brothers that doesn't have the Vista drivers, however, it still works using the plug and play to my usb port, the software for the scanner don't work on Vista. Trial and error was my method to get the scanner to work without the drivers and software, Vista has the ability to work with some hardware without the factory drivers. Good Luck,

Vista is quite stubborn with many programs. I'd look into compatibility and also if they provide patches in order to convert the format over from standard PC to Vista.

Download and install the latest drivers for your webcam and printer from the manufacturer's site

maybe the two is not compatible with your Vista Home Premium. try checking their drivers for compatibility.
