The employees of a firm where I work do a lot of graphic design work. Graphics require large programs. Printouts must be high quality. It is imperative that employees be able to print reports quickly with reasonable print with reasonable print quality. So, Which of this Printers would you choose? A) Laser, 1200 DPI, 20 PPM. B) Ink-Jet, 600 DPI, 12 PPM. C) Laser, 600 DPI, 16 PPM. Printer A, B or C? Justify your election. THANK U VERY MUCH....

Answer:
A) Laser, 1200 DPI, 20 PPM Printer can be set to a lower DPI for most jobs. High resolution when needed. Faster page-per-minute Faster printing less wait time between print jobs. Hi res will slow the PPM down - but you will get better than or equal PPM to the other printers. 600 DPI (Graphics) 1200 DPI (Photos)

If (A) is color, I go with (A). Because you need for graphics. And better quality (dpi) and fast (ppm).

yeah, buy the high quality one (A). you can always select lower resolution settings from the software that you are using to print the graphics, but if you need the extra DPI some time, it will be available. plus it has the highest PPM.

Hi Jessenia, I would go with B and C. Here is why - You need color to be able to print pictures, labels and anything that requires color. The problem is operation costs for ink is about 6 times as much as a Laser. 95 percent of your printing can be in black & white. Set up the laser as your default printer. When you need color manually choose yout inkjet for that particular print job. You have the best of both worlds and in a few months you will pay for the inkjet in ink savings. From now on you are ahead of the game. I have run dual printers for years and I couldn't get by any other way. Norm

DPI is not actually the best way to determine the printer's graphics quality. I would recommend making a trip to your local office supply store and asking to see a demo of the printer. As far as quality of the prints go, it's hard to beat an HP laser printer. If I had to guess, however, choice (A) would have to be it, because of the speed.

It's seriously difficult to compare DPI between laser and ink. The 600 dpi ink is actually the lowest quality printer in this case. As for speed the ink jet is going to be seriously slow with a print speed of 12ppm since inkjet print speed is really more of a relative figure. I would say for a business go with option A. If more than one person is sharing you want a good fast printer so nobody waits for their work. Also, you'll want a solid print quality if these are reports to be shared with clients or prospective customers or shareholders.
