Why is my printer printing red horizontal lines all over the page?

My printer is printing horizontal lines across the page?

  • its a laser printer samsug scx-4300

  • Answer:

all the other answers so far have missed the point - it is a laser printer so it has no ink but runs on toners. Is their some sort of maintenance program with your printer? There usually is, see if has any cleaning cycles you can use to perhaps sort this issue. Are these lines evenly spaced apart or seemingly random? If evenly spaced then it is likely the drum is dirty or damaged, if random that suggests a toner issue. The drum you cant fix, just replace the toner you can (gently) shake the cartridges to redistribute the toner and break up any lumps that may have formed, be careful doing this as toner may spill out and it is horrible stuff to clean up, do it outside!

You may have a clogged ink cartridge First step is to see will if it print a test page Go to Start, settings, printers. Right click on the printer, properties, print test page. If that doesn't work there should be a head cleaning option in properties that will make it clean the print heads. If there is still nothing after that then either it’s badly clogged, low or out of ink, and needs to be replaced
